Collectively, I think we all needed this movie a lot more than this movie needed us. At this time I don’t think I have to point out that the world is a dumpster fire of epic proportions, out of control and about to send a spark into a dynamite factory. The women of SNL past came together to write, direct, and star in this ensemble comedy about long time female friendship at an older age.

Chappelle's Turn as Host of SNL was What America Needed

  The rest of the show feels invigorating as there hasn’t been much comedy to come out of the election results, just explanations, essays, long winded arguments, and more political and social unrest. Dave Chappelle’s monologue feels so energizing, as he first makes fun of the political climate that currently infuses our everyday life, about the fate of our country.

Sisters

She can't put her feet on the ground, she gets fired for being a hot head, and she makes thoughtless decisions. Her sister, Maura (Poehler) is a boring, middle of the road nurse who is recently divorced and doesn't enjoy life in the slightest. Both come home to Florida and find that they need to move on from the self-imposed obstacles they have put in place.

Welcome to Me

Though she seems to be a shut-in she has a childhood friend (played by Linda Cardellini) who is always on her side and follows her on her madcap adventures. Alice Klieg (Wiig) is a really interesting character who is dominated most by anxiety, shame, and regret, and we as the audience want to know how she ended up where she has.
